Description

This is an initial test of the new QB 0.73X reducer for the Takahashi FSQ-85 EDX (Baby-Q) which reduces the focal length from 450 (f/5.4) to 330mm (f/3.9).   It is specifically designed for use with a full frame camera, which is what I use on this scope.  I recently posted this in the forum (here) but decided to post it here as well.  I was pleased with the initial result, especially since the data were collected during thin cloud coverage.  In addition to this much wider FOV, I was also curious to see if this widefield would preserve decent star structure, even out to the corners.   After two evenings of fiddling with the backfocus and the dreaded tilt of the ASI6200, I managed to get what I think is an acceptable (but by no means perfect) result.

I love these wide views (despite my bad framing of this one in trying to dodge the clouds) as this image contains over 22,000 stars, with several interesting objects such as the Flaming Star and Tadpole nebulae, and the open cluster M38, among other structures.  It compliments my C11" EdgeHD @ f/10 with the ASI2600 very well for close-up images.
